TOOL FOR A NEW START

Its been a year since the COVID 19 pandemic started and millions of cases up until now were continuously reported . after a few months of this pandemic, severl vaccines were presented from different countries . The Philippines is the last Southeast Asian nation to receive a COVID-19 vaccine supply. But its better having one than having nothing. On this year, month of February , the first batch of vaccine arrived in our country. Some people are afraid on takingthe vaccines as there are side effect that can trigger their health and also the fear that the Dengvaxia incident that happened before might also happen again .

No vaccine provides 100% protection from COVID-19. It typically takes a few weeks for the body to build immunity after vaccination. That means it is possible a person could be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 just before or just after vaccination and still get sick because the vaccine has not had enough time to provide protection. In addition, efficacy is measured not only by a vaccine's ability to prevent infection, but also in its prevention of severe forms of the disease and of forward transmission. While a vaccinated person  may not be completely prevented from getting infected, s/he will still have a reduced risk of getting severe forms of COVID-19. If more people have this reduced risk, then we can more effectively reduce transmission.

Studies show that COVID-19 vaccines are effective at keeping you from getting COVID-19. Getting a COVID-19 vaccine will also help keep you from getting seriously ill even if you do get COVID-19. These vaccines teach our immune systems how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19. It typically takes 2 weeks after vaccination for the body to build protection  against the virus. That means it is possible a person could still get COVID-19 before or just after vaccination and then get sick because the vaccine did not have enough time to provide protection.

After COVID-19 vaccination, people may have some side effects. These are normal signs that an individual’s body is building protection. According to the Department of Health, these common adverse effects include tenderness, pain, warmth, redness, itching or swelling on the arm where you got the injection , feeling unwell and tired , feeling feverish , headache , and muscle ache. People with age with health issuess are recommended not to take the vaccines for safety.

COVID-19 vaccination is an important tool to bring you closer to enjoying the activities you have missed. We have no other choice but to trust the vaccines made by health experts . A tool in keeping you from getting COVID-19. A starting tool so you can start doing again some things you had stopped doing because of the pandemic.
